The DriveON program (new in 2024) combines the heavy-duty diesel vehicle emissions testing program and MTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) Program into a single digital inspection program.
Enrolment for DriveON opened on 2024-05-09 for MVIS facilities that perform annual and semi-annual inspections. The complete program details, including the onboarding process and contacts, can be found at the DriveON Contact Centre toll-free at 1-833-420-2103 or visit the DriveON portal.
“The new DriveOn will reduce vehicle downtime during the inspection process, put an end to the lick and stick inspection practice, eliminate the previous burdensome paper process, drive out non-compliance and improve commercial vehicle safety standards, while protecting people and the environment from smog-causing pollutants from engines with illegally deleted emissions controls,” says Geoff Wood, Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) Sr. VP, Policy. “It’s a game changer and we are thankful that the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) committed itself to this monumental project.”
This will be the future of obtaining a vehicle Safety Inspection. The fees will increase also to the consumer due to the equipment used to perform the inspection.
